Gynostemma pentaphyllum, also known as 'jiaogulan', is a climbing plant naturally occurring in Japan, southeastern China and Thailand. In the Netherlands this plant is known as 'immortality herb' or 'eternal life herb'. It has a prominent place in traditional Chinese herbal medicine.
